The Pavelhaus a communityproject in Gornja Radgona
The Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Austria enabled the renovation of this farm house, which was built in 1837 and, from an architectural- historical perspective, should be kept for preservation.
A community project and sign of tolerance, this house of culture is meant to be a meeting place between Slovenia and Austria, between “Štajrern” and Styrians, on the one hand, and a cultural institution for the local, multi- and monolingual ommunity,
on the other.
The multilingual donor of the name, Avgust Pavel (1886-1946) lived up to the principles of a multiple identity, which is prevalent in this region. Pavel was a linguist, folklorist, poet, lecturer at Szeged University, and museum director. His family lived in his house between 1905 and 1927.
